The Background.... I’ve always supported Leeds United...ever since my Uncle Eddie (who still works at Elland Road as an assessor to the club) took me to my first match - Leeds vs Nottingham Forest in 1969 (more about that in the Memories page)
My granddad, Albert Evans was a commissionaire whose main duty was “guarding” the entrance to the players lounge and he started taking me to the home matches. Being posted on the players lounge meant that I got very close to the players, sometimes before, but generally always after the match. So, there was I, a star struck 12 year old rubbing shoulders with some of the great names from the Leeds United team of the 1970’s. Autographs aplenty of course (check out the autographs page) but my pride and joy was a signed Terry Cooper Stocking Tag. For those old enough to remember, the Leeds team in the early 70’s were trying to shake off their hard image, and the players wore stocking tags that corresponded to their shirt number. My hero was Terry Cooper and when he handed me his stocking tag after one particular match, I quickly got him to sign it.
And that is where this web site comes in.....I have mislaid Terry Cooper’s Stocking Tag!!
It might be in the loft with all my other paraphanalia - then again it might not. So, over the next few weeks/months/whatever, I am going to grab a handful of stuff and start sticking it on this web site - programs, souvenirs, autographs etc.
Hopefully, the missing tag might just turn up.....watch this space
